Genuine Jersey's only restaurant member, La Cantina produces a range of fresh Genuine Jersey pasta and gnocchi daily at the restaurant opposite the People’s Park in St Helier.
The range includes: fresh free-range egg semolina, whole-wheat and 100% gluten free. La Cantina also produces fresh lasagne, cannelloni and ravioli, including seasonal specials stuffed with local meats and foraged wild ingredients.
All the pasta is made using the finest imported Italian products paired with local fresh free-range eggs. Moreover, La Cantina sources eggs with the darkest yolks to be found in the Island to make the deepest golden yellow fresh pasta.
The gnocchi is made using large locally grown, starchy potatoes and the restaurant also creates exciting seasonal specially flavoured gnocchi including stinging nettle and Jerusalem artichoke. Proprietor Marcus Calvani, whose family have run La Cantina since 1992, also offers fresh hand-made pasta making classes for up to 12 people; followed by a four-course lunch with the middle course featuring the pasta made during the class.
These classes have proved to be very popular as corporate team building events and also for stag and hen parties - as well as groups of passionate foodies!
Along with the restaurant’s pasta, freshly made pizza and breads, the daily blackboard specials feature whatever is in season, from locally caught seafood to Jersey-raised meats, foraged herbs and exclusive Italian finds that are imported each week.
