Rosemary was educated at The Jersey College for Girls after which she gained a B.A. Hons degree in Fine Art from Bath Academy of Art. On her return to Jersey she worked in the design department of The Jersey Pottery for some years.

After marriage and children she began painting again, mostly in watercolour, concentrating in particular, on the Jersey cow.

A commercial aspect to her work developed, by painting murals in hotels, restaurants, private homes and the airport where she was commissioned to paint two life sized murals of Jersey Cows.

Prior to that in 1998 she spent six weeks near Nice in the South of France working on a large scale staircase mural, in a private villa.

Rosemary also works in three-dimentions making ceramic pieces for home and garden, in particular, relief tile panels and sculptural boats.

Another aspect of her work is in textiles making, amongst other things, bags and scarves from fantastic yarns sourced from Australia, America and Italy. Although working in three disciplines she find that they complement each other and develop from the same influences that run throughout her work.

Texture and colour are strong focal points, her fascination is with expressing mood and feeling through the surface, rather than form, although the subject matter always relates to a visual starting point.

Rosemary’s work can be seen at The Harbour Gallery, St Aubin, Rococo Art and Gifts, Liberty Wharf St Helier, La Mare town shop, Framing Workshop St Helier and by appointment at Bluestone Studio, St Ouen (phone number as below). In summer months she also participates in the weekly market at Weighbridge Place St Helier.

Rosemary is happy to take commissions and can be contacted on 01534 482121 or via her website.
