Hamptonne Farm Hens can be found in the heart of the countryside in St. Lawrence. It is a new commercial enterprise that was started to help meet the demand for local free range eggs.
Hamptonne Farm Hens started as a hobby farm six years ago and has grown to become the business it is today.
Two thousand Lohmann Browns hybrid layers were imported in January 2010 followed by another two thousand in March 2010. The hens are imported from a supplier in Romsey, England and arrive at 16 weeks old. They start to lay eggs at around 21 weeks.
The hens are housed in two large mobile insulated polytunnels that keep the environment at an ambient temperature year round. The polytunnels have pop holes that are open to the field outside; the hens can go in and out as they please. Inside the polytunnels is an extensive scratching area for the hens, so that they can have dust baths, dig holes and, in general enjoy all the activities that make life pleasant for hens.
Hamptonne Farm Hens were grateful to receive advice and practical help from Jersey Enterprise, the States Rural Initiative Scheme, Genuine Jersey Products Association, Acorn Finance and Terry Grimshaw, the designer of the labels and advertising materials.
Hamptonne Farm Hens are proud to be members of the Genuine Jersey Products Association. Our aim is to provide excellent quality locally sourced free range eggs.
Hamptonne Farm Free Range Eggs can be purchased from most local supermarkets and farm shops.
We also supply some local cafes, restaurants, Chinese takeaways, Chinese restaurants, hotels, guesthouses and sandwich shops.
