Farm Fresh Organics in St Lawrence is run by Steven and Linda Carter. Steven, who has been an agricultural farmer for a quarter of a century, also began converting to organic farming nine years ago.
He and his wife now run the largest organic farm in Jersey and sell a wide range of seasonal crops including tomatoes, cucumbers, runner beans, mange tout, French beans, cauliflowers, Jersey Royals, maincrop potatoes, swede, beetroot, lettuce, celeriac, parsnips, broccoli, radishes, red savoy and white cabbage, peppers and rhubarb.
They also have two flocks of organic chickens for egg production. Their produce is available in Checkers and the Co-ops as well as from their farm shop and home-delivery service. Certain of their crops are grown in commercial quantities for export to the UK market
Linda, who previously worked in the finance industry, says: “We have built up a loyal customer base who enjoy the superior taste and flavour that we believe organic produce offers. We are on a programme of conversion to increase the area of organic land we farm to offer the widest choice of locally grown organic produce and believe being part of the Genuine Jersey brand will be a significant marketing boost to our business”.
