Woodside Farms Ltd.

Woodside is a traditional Jersey farm owned and managed by the Gallichan family who have been involved in the local agricultural and horticultural industry since the 1800s. There are still 3 generations working on the farm today.

Although the farm grows a wide range of vegetables, including Jersey Royals, onions, Swede and leeks for the local and export markets, the main focus of the business is flower and bulb production. Mainly produced for export the farm grows over 60 varieties of daffodil, with cut flower production from December through until April and bulbs throughout the summer.

For the local trade, Woodside grows over 25 different types of flower and foliage crops, with spray and standard carnations, lilies and gyphsophilia being the most popular. The fact that these flowers are grown on their own nurseries ensures freshness and excellent vase life for customers.

Consequently Woodside has earned a good reputation for high quality but none the less competitively priced flowers for both mail order bouquets for the UK (Flower Express Jersey) and the farms own florist shop (Woodside Flowers). Woodside also sold locally grown Christmas trees, Holly-wreaths and festive table decorations as well as pre-packed vegetables at Christmas. All aspects of floral work are undertaken from weddings to funerals, hand-tied bouquets to corporate functions. To complement the existing team a new Dutch florist who has been working in London for the past 5 years will be arriving soon. This new addition to the team will further enhance Woodside’s ability to continually innovate and improve its services to customers.

Apart from its flowers and vegetables, Woodside Farm also uses the Genuine Jersey brand for a number of other items, including tender beef, geese, turkeys, and most recently a range of beefburgers.
