The farm is uniquely located in a former World War II German gun emplacement and bunker at St Catherine’s in the east of the Island . It houses about 6,500 Turbot at any one time, ranging from tiny 50p-sized fish to four-year-old Turbot weighing several pounds. The fish are reared in tanks within the bunker tunnel, being fed on totally organic fish food. Once they are 3½ years old and weigh about 2lbs – the most popular size - they are sold to members the public, who give Jersey Turbot at least 24 hours notice to give them a chance to prepare the fish for collection. The company joined the Association in May last year and recently obtained permission to give guided tours of the fish farm and to hold open air markets on the land in front of the bunker on Saturdays. Stalls are offered exclusively to GJPA members, providing a showcase for the diversity and quality of Jersey produce. |

Jersey Turbot (C.I.) is a family-run business started about six years ago by former deep sea fisherman Dave Cowburn. He has now handed over the reins to his daughter, Sam, who manages the business on a day to day basis for the family.
