Royal Bay Oysters Jersey

Royal Bay Oysters (La Rocque Fisheries Ltd) was set up in 1973. The company leases 26.8 hectares of inter-tidal foreshore in the Royal Bay of Grouville to cultivate Pacific Oysters (Crasspstrea Gigas).

The company buys approximately 4 million seed oysters each year from authorized hatcheries in the UK and France and then grows them to market size in specially designed plastic mesh bags for sale to wholesalers and fishmongers in Jersey, UK and France.

The company has installed state of the art equipment to enable them to purify 12 tonnes of oysters at any one time to meet local and EEC standards.

An associate company, Seed Oysters (Jersey) Ltd acts as a nursery, exporting to France, England and Scotland in excess of 13 million partly grown oysters each year.
