Jersey Dairy is owned by the Jersey Milk Marketing Board, a cooperative of the Island’s dairy farmers which has been in existence since 1954. The dairy, originally situated in Don Road, has been located at Five Oaks since 1966 and has more than 90 employees. As well as supplying Islanders with healthy and delicious milk, the Dairy is committed to developing and marketing products, both locally and further afield, which give consumers a real taste of Jersey, often imitated but rarely equalled. The Dairy is dedicated to supporting dairy farming in the Island thus preserving the Jersey cow in its Island home. The Jersey herd is almost certainly the purest bred cattle in the world, having been protected by a legal ban on the importation of cattle into the Island since the 18th century. Where possible the Dairy uses locally sourced ingredients to complement its natural product; a good example of this is Jersey ’s Finest wickedly tempting range of luxury ice creams. The Dairy holds the ISO9001:9002 and BRC quality standards and Soil Association accreditation for the production and packaging of organic products.
