Harmony Produce

Harmony Produce is a family business that has been in existence for 38 years. With a staff of about 30, the company’s main staple is growing specialised tomatoes for export to Tesco supermarkets in the UK. The most recent product is the Jersey Jewel variety.

Other varieties that are grown are Santa Baby Plum and the new Cherry tomato, Orange Perusche. They are grown on three different sites in St Clement, Grouville and St Saviour, comprising seven acres of glasshouses and producing 550,000 kilos of tomatoes every year. Production time is early March to mid-November.

The crops are grown virtually chemical free because bumble bees are used to pollinate the tomatoes. Instead insects which are natural predators are imported on a weekly basis to control pests in the greenhouses. The glasshouses are all computer controlled to ensure the most efficient use of fuel and watering of the crop.
