Diane Best is Jersey ’s largest sheep farmer and Genuine Jersey’s only lamb producer. Diane farms at Le Pavillon in St Martin and expanded her flock last year to introduce a new bloodline into the Island and improve the quality of locally-reared lamb. The flock of 87 sheep includes Hampshire Down and Clun Forest breeds.

Diane began sheep farming more than 20 years ago and is one of a handful of small lamb producers in Jersey . The free range flock is reared traditionally without growth promoters or routine antibiotics and is grazed on pasture clear of herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Their welfare is of prime importance.

Since joining the Association last May, Diane has built up a loyal customer base selling her lamb from the farm and at a series of popular continental-style Farmers and Craft Markets run by Genuine Jersey in St Aubin’s. Diane also supplies many local restaurants who are also members of Genuine Jersey.
