RosesKnown locally as ‘St Lawrence’s Best Kept Secret’, Cooke’s Roses is a family business with Roland Cooke at the helm. Originally bulb growers, the Cookes settled at Le Passage Farm where the company is based in the 1940s. They planted some of the first daffodil fields in the Island and over the years have grown cauliflowers, Jersey Royal new potatoes, courgettes, parsley and most outdoor flower crops.

In 1960, the family started growing roses under glass to sell mainly in Jersey and this is now their main trade. They deliver daily to florists and hotels and also sell foliage and other flowers such as oriental lilies, freesia, chrysanths, tulips, delphiniums and many others. Their speciality is Hybrid Tea Garden Roses, with over 70 varieties which are all displayed in their rose garden. They also have around 80 different varieties of camellias. They recently expanded their farm shop and now sell a range of vegetables, honey, chutneys, marmalades and eggs.

Le Passage Farm has been transformed from one of the leading commercial units in the Island to a more environmentally friendly estate. There is an ancient organic meadow where marsh orchids and other wild flowers grow, a pond and waterfowl. Visitores can also take part in a floral walk called ‘Roses with Roly’ that runs every Wednesday afternoon between from April until September
