Channimation was established by Tony Barnes, Gordon Pollock and Beki Ruxton in 2002. The Company is based in Grouville, where Tony uses the range of skills he has acquired through working in animation for almost 30 years. These include creating, drawing, writing, producing, directing and song writing.

Having previously lived in Cardiff, Tony’s work has included animation for the Welsh television channel S4C and he was animator ‘in residence’ for BBC Wales for many years. He has also worked on a variety of commercials, titles and programmes, and is pleased to offer this facility on the island.

Tony has created and produced a host of cartoons series over the years, which have been shown on Channel 4, BBC, ITV and internationally. These include Transylvania Pet Shop; The Shoe People; Potsworth and Company; and Viz Videos, when he worked with comedians such as Harry Enfield and Peter Cook. Tony has received many awards for his work including a New York Film & TV Festival Gold and three BAFTA Nominations.

Channimation is responsible for creating the ‘Jersey Royals’, a cartoon series set in Jersey and made for a pre-school audience. To use the potato name which is synonymous with the Island , Tony had to get special permission from Jersey Tourism.

A total of 13 episodes were created for the characters Chip the surfer; Rusty the skater chick; Duchess the little sister; Wedge the boffin; Spud the dog; and Cyrano de Bergerat, the ‘baddy’ rat and were shown on Channel Television in 2004. They are now available on DVD and Tony is hoping the cartoon series will be picked up by other networks outside the Channel Islands .
